PRISTINA, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Albania’s interior minister resigned on Thursday over a police officer’s killing of a young man who violated curfew, an incident that triggered violent protests on Wednesday.
“I have decided to resign irrevocably from the post of the Interior Minister of the Republic of Albania,” interior minister Sander Lleshaj said in a statement.
A 25-year-old man, identified by Albanian media as Klodian Rasha, was killed early on Tuesday in what police described as an excessive use of force by an officer during a curfew introduced to prevent a surge of coronavirus case. (Reporting by Fatos Bytyci; Writing by Ivana Sekularac)
