3rd Circuit to hear American Airlines’ appeal of Newark workers’ class action

A federal appeals court on Tuesday will hear American Airlines’ appeal from certification of a class action by its hourly employees at Newark Liberty International Airport, who accuse the airline of not paying them for work they performed on their lunch breaks or outside their assigned shifts.

The airline is appealing a ruling by Chief U.S. District Judge Jose Linares in Newark, New Jersey, who last year certified the class even though he acknowledged that individual inquiries might be necessary for each class member.
