FBI conducting searches at UAW retreat and other locations

DETROIT, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The FBI said on Wednesday that it is conducting searches at the United Auto Workers retreat in northern Michigan and at multiple other locations, which sources said were related to an ongoing corruption probe involving illegal payouts to union officials.

The Detroit News reported Wednesday that those raids include the Detroit area home of current UAW President Gary Jones, but officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation say they could not confirm that report. The UAW did not immediately comment on the news. (Reporting By Nick Carey)
