UPDATE 1-BofA's consumer bank chief says keen on CEO job

* CEO job one of the industry’s best - consumer bank chief

* Will stay on if does not get it - Moynihan

LOS ANGELES, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp’s (BAC.N) consumer banking chief, tipped to be a leading candidate to replace outgoing CEO Kenneth Lewis, said he is keen to take the top job, but will stay on if he misses out on it.

Brian Moynihan, considered an outsider who joined the largest U.S. lender after it acquired FleetBoston in 2004, is one of the top candidates under consideration to succeed Lewis when he retires at the end of the year, sources have said. [ID:nN01408614]

“Anybody would want this job, it’s one of the best jobs in the business,” Moynihan told Reuters on the sidelines of a speaking engagement in Los Angeles.

“This is a great company and I will continue to do a great job for it, no matter what the outcome.” (Reporting by Gina Keating, Editing by Ian Geoghegan)
