Defaults by energy producers may be peaking as sector stabilizes - Fitch

Defaults by North American energy exploration and production companies could peak by year end as oil prices stabilize following the worst energy price bust in a generation, according to Fitch Ratings.

Over the past 12 months, 36 energy producers defaulted on more than $35 billion in debt, but as oil prices recover, drilling companies will be on a stronger financial footing, Fitch said.
