Puerto Rico gives in to stay relief in dispute over attorneys' fees

The mother of a disabled child may seek to recover attorneys’ fees from a legal dispute with Puerto Rico over her daughter’s education after the U.S. commonwealth dropped its opposition to her bid to lift the stay in its financial restructuring.

U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain on Tuesday lifted the stay for Bernice Beauchamp-Velazquez without considering her arguments after Puerto Rico consented earlier in the day.
