Puerto Rico public-sector unions want furlough fight to themselves

Unions for Puerto Rico’s public employees want the judge overseeing the island’s bankruptcy-like proceedings to put on hold a challenge to planned furloughs.

In court papers filed on Monday, the American Federal of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) argued its lawsuit against the austerity measure could be compromised by objections to the furloughs raised by Interamericas Turnkey Inc.
