Margot helps Padres end Diamondbacks' 13-game win streak

PHOENIX -- San Diego center fielder Manuel Margot had three hits and drove in four runs and the Padres stopped the Arizona Diamondbacks’ franchise-record 13-game winning streak with a 10-6 victory at Chase Field on Friday.

Margot had a two-run triple in a six-run fourth inning as the Padres jumped to an 8-0 lead before Arizona got within two, helped by two-run homers by Rey Fuentes in the fifth inning and J.D. Martinez in the sixth.

Margot’s two-run single in the seventh inning put the Padres back in control and helped right-hander Jordan Lyles (1-2) to his first victory of the season.

Margot, who finished a homer short of the cycle, leads NL rookies with 35 multi-hit games.

Erick Aybar had three hits and scored twice and Jabari Blash, Jose Pirela and Wil Myers had two hits apiece for the Padres (64-78), who have won five of eight.

Martinez’s homer, his 19th in 43 games with Arizona, drove in the middle two runs in a four-run sixth inning that made it 8-6.

The Diamondbacks had six hits in the sixth inning, five for extra bases, and loaded the bases with one out but did not score again.

Ketel Marte and Jake Lamb had two hits for Arizona (82-59), which had not lost since Aug. 23.

Lyles gave up six hits and four runs in five innings, all the runs scoring in the fifth and sixth innings after a stretch in which retired 13 in a row. He also had a two-run single in the fourth.

Arizona’s Patrick Corbin (13-12) gave up 11 hits and eight runs in 4 1/3 innings.

The Padres scored six runs after Corbin retired the first two batters in the fourth inning for a 6-0 lead.

Blash and Aybar looped singles to center field before Austin Hedges walked to load the bases. Lyles hit a soft single into center, driving in Blash and Aybar.

Margot followed with a triple into the right field corner to drive in two more. Jose Pirela had a two-run single after Carlos Asuaje walked and took second on a wild pitch.

Wil Myers and Yangervis Solarte doubled for a run to open the fifth inning. Aybar’s forceout at second with runners on first and third drove in another run for an 8-0 lead and knocked out Corbin.

Fuentes’ two-run pinch-hit homer made it 8-2 in the fifth inning.

NOTES: Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt (right elbow) was held out of the lineup for the fifth straight game, although he took batting practice Friday for the first time since receiving an MRI and a cortisone shot Monday.
