Belarus to lower official rouble rate - sources

MINSK, May 23 (Reuters) - Belarus’ central bank will officially devalue the rouble by 36 percent on Tuesday, bringing the exchange rate to 4,930 roubles per dollar, banking sources told Reuters on Monday.

The central bank declined to comment.

Belarus has maintained a multiple-level exchange rate system since April. The official rate was 3,155 roubles per dollar on Monday while the freely floating interbank market rate was 6,400-6,800 roubles per dollar.
