Brazil to monitor prices as currency tumbles-Mantega

BRASILIA, Aug 30 (Reuters) - The Brazilian government will keep a close eye on inflation to make sure a sharp depreciation of the local currency is not stoking prices, Finance Minister Guido Mantega said on Friday.

He reiterated that inflation remains under control and that a pick up in activity seen in the second quarter should not add pressure to consumer prices.
