Brazil 2018 growth expected at 2.5-pct pace -finance minister

BRASILIA, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles on Monday said he expected Brazil’s economy to be growing at a pace of 2.5 percent early in 2018 if Congress passes reforms needed to narrow the budget deficit.

Meirelles said Brazil was “unquestionably growing” in the third quarter and the government projects a growth rate of 2 percent for the last quarter. He urged lawmakers to approve the pension reform that is being delayed in Congress.
