BRIEF-Norway fisheries minister alters regulation of PD salmon disease

Aug 29 (Reuters) - Norway’s Fisheries Minister Per Sandberg said in a statement on Tuesday:

* Will intensify fight against spread of pancreas disease (PD) among salmon

* Says to establish PD zone in region from Jaeren to northern Troendelag, while the rest of the coastline will consist of two monitoring regions

* Says fish farmers in the established PD zone will have greater flexibility than before, and that outbreaks there no longer will require immediate harvest of the fish

* Says new regulation is expected to be at least as effective in battling PD in region affected by the disease

* Says separate goal of the new regulation is to prevent spread to the two non-PD regions

* Fish farming is among Norway's top export industries Source text (in Norwegian): Further company coverage: (Reporting By Terje Solsvik)
