LONDON, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at the Bacton gas terminal connecting Britain to Europe and North Sea gas fields, and the Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) plant where the fire broke out has been shut, Shell said in a statement.

“Shell U.K. Limited can confirm a fire on the waste water system has occurred this evening at the Bacton Gas Plant located on the Norfolk coast, 18 miles north-west of Norwich,” the statement said.

“The fire has now been extinguished and the plant has been shut down safely.”
