Canada housing starts decline in September - CMHC

OTTAWA, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Canadian housing starts declined in September, though not as sharply as expected, as a 10.7 percent drop in multiple urban starts outweighed an 8.2 percent climb in single urban starts, data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation showed on Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of starts fell to 217,118 in September from August’s upwardly revised 225,918. Economists had expected a decline to a 210,000 annual rate. (Reporting by Andrea Hopkins)
