Chesapeake gas well blowout appears stable--regulator

NEW YORK, April 21 (Reuters) - The Chesapeake Energy (CHK.N) natural gas well that suffered a blowout this week appeared to be in stable condition Thursday morning, with little or no drilling fluid escaping, said Pennsylvania State Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman Katy Gresh.

Workers had lost control of the hydraulic fracturing well in the state’s Marcellus Shale natural gas play late Tuesday, causing it to spew thousands of gallons of drilling fluid into the environment. (Reporting by Joshua Schneyer; Editing by John Picinich)
