China April power output down 3.5 pct on year

BEIJING, May 13 (Reuters) - China’s power output in April declined 3.5 percent from a year earlier to 271.288 billion kilowatt hours, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Wednesday.

Electricity production in the first four months fell 3.2 percent to 1,049.16 billion kilowatt hours.

Output from thermal plants in April decreased 6.2 percent from a year earlier to 218.762 billion kilowatt hours, while production from hydropower stations increased 10.8 percent to 42.109 billion kilowatt hours.
