China signs 700 mln yuan currency swap deal with Uzbekistan

BEIJING, April 19 (Reuters) - China and Uzbekistan have signed a 700 million yuan bilateral currency swap deal, the Chinese central bank said on Tuesday.

The three-year arrangements, which came a day after China’s 25 billion yuan currency swap deal with New Zealand, is aimed at boosting trade and investment between the two countries, the People’s Bank of China said in a brief statement.

Since December 2008, China has broadened the influence of the yuan by arranging swap agreements with South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Belarus, Argentina, Iceland, Singapore and New Zealand. (Reporting by Zhou Xin and Koh Gui Qing; Editing by Ken Wills)
