CHICAGO, April 27 (Reuters) - The Chicago headquarters of giant hedge fund Citadel LLC was evacuated on Wednesday after a suspicious device was found in the offices of another firm in the same building, though police later cleared the situation, police and the company said.
Chicago police spokesman Veejay Zala said the downtown building was evacuated at 3:47 p.m. (Central Time), and that the device was later deemed “innocuous.”
Katie Spring, a Citadel spokeswoman, told Reuters the office was evacuated as soon as police let the company know about the situation.
Citadel, a big market maker across asset classes and national borders, also operates an investment bank. (Reporting by Ann Saphir, James B. Kelleher and Jonathan Spicer; editing by Carol Bishopric)
