S.Korea's May coal imports surge 33 pct yr/yr

SEOUL, June 15 (Reuters) - South Korea’s May coal imports soared 33 percent to 9.5 million tonnes from 7.2 million tonnes a year ago, data from the Korea Customs Service showed on Wednesday.

Customs data earlier showed that the country’s imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) also jumped 22 percent to 2.39 million tonnes in May from a year earlier. (Reporting by Cho Mee-young; Editing by Jonathan Hopfner)
