NEW YORK, May 5 (Reuters) - Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp (CDE.N) on Monday said it resumed operations at its Cerro Bayo mine in southern Chile faster than expected.
The company said on April 8 it would cease operations at the mine for six weeks to upgrade Cerro Bayo’s electrical infrastructure.
It said then that the shutdown would trim the mine’s 2008 output by 180,000 ounces of silver and 4,000 ounces of gold. The company did not immediately disclose whether the early restart would improve these figures. (Reporting by Michael Erman, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
