Govt probe finds diesel use in fracking for natgas

WASHINGTON, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Energy companies injected more than 32 million gallons of fluids containing diesel between 2005 and 2009 as part of a controversial oil and natural gas drilling technique, according to the results of a congressional investigation released on Monday.

The probe found that no oil and gas service companies sought or obtained permits for the use of diesel in hydraulic fracturing, which could be a possible violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
