Judge tosses lawsuit against Deutsche Bank over tax shelter

A Chicago physician and his medical clinic cannot pursue Deutsche Bank for allegedly aiding a now-defunct law firm in promoting an illegal tax shelter because his lawsuit is untimely, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Sharon Coleman in Chicago said physician John McMahan should have known that the so-called Son of Boss tax shelter was illegitimate by February 2005 at the latest, and his lawsuit was subject to a five-year statute of limitations from that time.
