MUMBAI, Aug 27 (Reuters) - Private equity firm Sequoia Capital said on Wednesday it has raised $725 million through its Sequoia Capital India Growth Fund II.

The fund would invest in unlisted companies at pre-IPO stage and also in listed firms, it said in a statement.

With this fund the firm managed $1.8 billion together with its other India-focussed funds, the statement said.

In 2006, the company raised $400 million through its first growth fund and has invested in more than 50 firms, it added.
