* ADM says cocoa warehouse was unaffected
* ADM says assessing the damage

AMSTERDAM, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM.N) said on Thursday that it was still assessing damage at its cocoa processing plant in the Netherlands following a fire, but that its nearby warehouse was not affected.
“At approximately 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 19 January, there was an explosion in one of the production lines of our cocoa processing facility in Wormer, Netherlands, followed by a short, intense fire,” ADM said in a statement.
“There were no injuries, and the warehouse is unaffected.” The statement did not say how much cocoa in the processing plant was affected by the fire.
“We are currently assessing the damage,” ADM spokeswoman Elissa Igelheart told Reuters.
Earlier on Thursday police said the fire was extinguished after a couple of hours. A fire at the same plant in late 2003 spread to the cocoa stored there and burned for several days. (Reporting by Ivana Sekularac; editing by Sara Webb and Jane Baird)
