CEE MARKETS-Stocks follow West lower on security and economic concerns

    By Marton Dunai
BUDAPEST, Aug 18 (Reuters) - Emerging European stocks fell
on Friday over concern raised by attacks in Spain and U.S.
economic policy while currencies trod water ahead of the release
of Polish economic data.
Spain mounted an anti-terrorism operation on Friday after a
suspected Islamist militant drove a van into crowds in
Barcelona, killing 13 people, in what police suspect was one of
a planned wave of attacks.
A slide on European stock markets set the mood for the
eastern half of the continent. Asian stock investors also joined
a global retreat from riskier assets on doubts about U.S.
President Donald Trump's ability to deliver his economic agenda.

Investors eyed Poland's release of July Industry output,
producer price and retail sales data due at 1200 GMT.
"We will get a clearer picture of the region's largest
economy by this afternoon after some important data and we also
eye an American sentiment index due out later today,"
Takarekbank analysts wrote in a note to clients in Budapest.
Hungarian shares shed half a percent after setting an
all-time record high on Thursday mainly on the back of
expectations from its leading stock, the regional lender OTP
Bank. The bank broke through the 10,000 forint barrier
after a string of acquisitions and record-setting second-quarter
result.
Czech stocks were two-thirds of a percent lower while Warsaw
was 0.4 percent weaker.
Hungary's central bank (NBH) is expected to keep its base
rate on hold at a record-low 0.9 percent at its meeting on Aug.
22 and until the end of 2018, bucking a trend towards higher
rates elsewhere, a Reuters poll of analysts showed on Thursday.

Poland's deputy finance minister told Reuters Warsaw would
keep its central budget deficit in check after a 6 billion zloty
first-half surplus, its best result since the country's
transformation from communism in the early 1990s.
