easyJet sees annual profit at upper end of range

LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) - British low cost airline easyJet said its annual profit would come in at the upper end of a guided range, as it benefited from robust flight demand and cancellations at bigger rival Ryanair.

easyJet said on Friday that pretax profit for the 12 months ended Sept. 30 would be between 570 million pounds ($746 million) and 580 million pounds - the upper end of the 550-590 million pounds figure it gave in July.

The carrier issued its trading update on the same day that Ryanair braced for strikes across six European countries, forcing flight cancellations that will disrupt the plans of 40,000 of its customers. ($1 = 0.7645 pounds) (Reporting by Sarah Young, editing by James Davey)
