ECB looking into digital currency "for the public": Lagarde

FRANKFURT, Feb 11 (Reuters) - The European Central Bank is looking into whether issuing its own digital currency would benefit people in the euro zone and help it achieve its own aim, ECB President Christine Lagarde said on Tuesday.

“We want to assess whether a central bank digital currency could serve a clear purpose for the public and support the ECB’s objectives,” Lagarde told the European Parliament.
