Egypt's FY 2016-17 current account deficit narrows by 21.5 percent -c.bank

CAIRO, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Egypt’s current account deficit for the fiscal year 2016-2017 that ended in June narrowed by 21.5 percent, standing at $15.57 billion from $19.83 billion the previous year, the central bank said on Monday.

The overall balance of payments registered a surplus of $13.71 billion, including $12.2 billion that were realised from November through June, following the flotation of the currency, a central bank statement said. (Reporting by Arwa Gaballa; Editing by Ahmed Aboulenein)
