U.S. calls on all sides to avoid violence in Egypt

WASHINGTON, Feb 2 (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday called on all sides in Egypt to avoid violence and show restraint amid a deepening crisis over President Hosni Mubarak’s rule.

“We reiterate our call for all sides in Egypt to show restraint and avoid violence. Egypt’s path to democratic change must be peaceful,” State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said in a message on Twitter. (Reporting by Andrew Quinn; editing by Vicki Allen)
