LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The writer who took on Daniel Pearl will tackle the creator of 007.

John Orloff, who wrote the script for “A Mighty Heart,” about the slain Wall Street Journal reporter, has been hired to pen the screenplay for “Fleming,” a biopic about writer Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond.

The feature will look at critical moments in the life of the colourful novelist and journalist. The son of a Parliament member, Fleming served as an intelligence officer in the British Navy and later created the Bond character.

The author penned the first Bond book, “Casino Royale,” in 1953 and went on to write a total of 14 novels featuring the debonair spy. Among them were “Live and Let Die,” “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Goldfinger,” all of which were made into films. Fleming’s children’s book “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” also inspired a movie adaptation. He died in 1964.
