NEW YORK, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Production at the Sable Offshore Energy Project, a natural gas project in the North Atlantic off the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, was ramping up following a weekend outage, a spokesman for operator Exxon Mobil Corp XOM.N said Wednesday.
“We had an equipment failure over the weekend. We are back delivering gas to the Maritimes & Northeast pipeline,” spokesman Merle MacIsaac said.
Sable, located 250 km (155 miles) southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, produces more than 400 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
The gas is shipped to Atlantic Canada and New England.
Natural gas and fuel oil traders said this week the outage, coupled with pipeline maintenance in the New York area and a burst of cold weather, helped push gas prices in the Northeast to nine-month highs.
