NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Paul Bettany and Thomas Kretschmann have joined the cast of the royal biopic “The Young Victoria”, which started shooting August 13 in Britain.

Bettany (“A Beautiful Mind”) will play Lord Melbourne, who helped the young monarch (Emily Blunt) learn the ropes when she began her 64-year reign in 1837. Kretschmann (“King Kong”) will play her uncle, King Leopold of Belgium.

Rupert Friend, Miranda Richardson and Jim Broadbent are also in the cast. Jean-Marc Vallee is directing.
