LONDON (Hollywood Reporter) - “Mamma Mia!” has become the biggest British movie of all time at the UK box office, and pundits believe it’s only a matter of time before the ABBA-themed musical replaces “Titanic” as the all-time champ.

The Universal Pictures release, which qualifies as British through the UK Film Council’s stringent rules, has sold just under 67 million pounds’ worth of tickets. “Titanic” sailed to 69 million pounds.

According to figures from tracking firm Nielsen EDI, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was the previous British record holder with 66 million pounds.
