MADRID, April 18 (Reuters) - Spain has called a videoconference meeting of EU transport ministers for Monday to discuss the impact on European air traffic of the volcanic gas ash cloud, the infrastructure minister said.
Spain holds the rotating EU presidency.
The meeting will evaluate the alternatives to air transport, Jose Blanco told journalists on Sunday after a meeting of the State Commission for Airports, which was set up on Saturday to monitor the situation at Spain’s airports.
Air travel across much of Europe was paralysed for a fourth day on Sunday. (Reporting by Judy MacInnes; editing by Alison Williams)
