Ryanair cancels n. European flights until Monday

DUBLIN, April 16 (Reuters) - Irish airline Ryanair said on Friday it would cancel flights to and from northern European countries until 1200 GMT on Monday because of the huge ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano.

The decision by Europe’s biggest low-cost carrier will affect flights to and from Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, northern France, northern Germany, Poland and the Baltic states.

“All of Ryanair’s flights in central and southern continental Europe are operating as normal,” Chief Executive Michael O’Leary said in a statement. (Reporting by Andras Gergely and Marie-Louise Gumuchian; editing by Andrew Dobbie)
