An image appearing to show former U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump standing alongside adult film star Stormy Daniels is digitally altered.
The image appears to show the former president dressed in a tuxedo and standing alongside his wife, Melania, in a black dress. Daniels appears to be pictured standing to Melania’s left.
Examples of the altered image can be seen (here) and (here).
The image is altered and juxtaposes a photograph of the Trumps taken in 2005 with an image of Daniels standing by herself captured in 2006.
The original image of the Trumps shows Donald and Melania Trump standing alongside Ivanka Trump and was taken at The Fashion Group International's Night of Stars in New York on Oct. 27, 2005. The unaltered image was published by the Daily Mail in 2016 (here).
A similar image showing Melania and Donald Trump standing with Ivanka to their left and Vanessa Haydon, Donald Trump Jr taken at a slightly different angle is viewable (here).
Reuters found no record of Daniels attending the event in 2005 with the Trumps (archive.is/wip/byz0z).
Meanwhile, the image of Daniels was captured at the 2006 Adult Video News (AVN) awards, as a reverse image search leads to a Wikipedia link of the photo viewable (here).
A similar image of Daniels standing on the same carpet with the same outfit was published by The Mirror in 2018 (here). Another image of Daniels at the event can be seen on Getty Images captured by photographer Jon Kopaloff (here).
Reuters found no publicly available images or reports of Daniels pictured with the Trumps at the event. The only online result connecting the Trumps to the 2006 AVN Awards is a debunk produced by Snopes on the same altered image published in 2018 (archive.is/JDxyk).
A Manhattan grand jury could bring charges against Trump over alleged hush money payments made to Daniels during his 2016 presidential election campaign (here).
VERDICT
Altered. The image is altered to juxtapose two separate images and make it appear as if Donald and Melania Trump were standing with Stormy Daniels.
