Fact Check-Photo of Dr. Oz kissing Trump’s Hollywood star is digitally altered

A digitally altered image purportedly showing celebrity surgeon and Republican nominee for the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Pennsylvania Dr. Mehmet Oz kissing Donald Trump’s star on Hollywood Walk of Fame has duped some readers online.

Comments from users who appear to think the image is real include: “It’s a cult,” and “I’m not a doctor, but I wouldn’t put my lips near anything “Trump”, especially a Hollywood sidewalk!,” wrote another.

The image was created by overlaying an image of Oz into a picture of Trump’s Hollywood star.

The picture of Oz originally shows him kissing his own Hollywood star. It dates to Feb. 11, 2022 and was captured by AP photographer Chris Pizzello (here ). Video of the moment was posted by Variety on YouTube (

The image of Trump’s star appears to be a cropped version of a 2017 AFP photograph viewable on Getty Images (here). The dark spots in the star, the crack in the middle as well as the alignment of the floor match.

Oz, who was endorsed by Trump, won the Republican primary race in June and is set to square off against Democrat John Fetterman in the Nov. midterm election (here).
