Fact Check- Video does not show Ukrainian President Zelenskiy and wife singing ‘Endless Love’

A music video of a cover of Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love” has been miscaptioned online, with social media users claiming it depicts Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Olena Zelenska, the first lady of Ukraine singing.

“Ukrainian President and his beautiful wife during happier times,” reads a Facebook post that has been shared 880 times as of the writing of this article ( here ). Other iterations are viewable ( here ) and ( here ).

While some users recognize the video does not show Zelenskiy and Zelenska, others don’t. “Hope this is not fake news... both countries and countries both sides are peddling false information,” one Facebook user commented. “Wow very inspiring beautifully rendered and apluadable (sic) to see and hear love it,” a second one wrote.

The performers in the video, however, are English singer Connie Talbot ( here ) and Boyce Avenue’s singer Alejandro Manzano ( here ) .

The clip is viewable in both Boyce Avenue and Talbot’s official YouTube channels ( here ), ( here ).

Reuters has previously addressed other footage miscaptioned as if to show Zelenska ( here ), ( here ).

VERDICT

Miscaptioned. Video shows singer Connie Talbot and Boyce Avenue’s singer Alejandro Manzano performing “Endless Love”, not Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Olena Zelenska.
