Fact Check-Video shows demonstration against climate policy, not crisis actors in Germany

Social media users are sharing a video of a news report that shows a man moving inside a body bag and claiming that it shows crisis actors in Germany.

Examples can be seen (here), (here), (here) and (here).

The text in one post reads: “Busted on live TV. Crisis actors in Germany. Exposed on National TV.”

Crisis actors is a term that has been used among those who believe the pandemic is conspiracy theory, as “proof” that world events pertaining to COVID-19 have been staged or planned (here) (here). Some examples debunked by Reuters can be seen (here), (here), (here).

However, the clip shown in the video was posted by the news channel OE24 on YouTube (here) on Feb. 4, 2022 with the caption: “Vienna: Demo against climate policy.”

In the video, the reporter says the activists were protesting against climate change policies and lying down to represent the people that die due to these policies.

VERDICT

Miscaptioned. The video shows a demonstration against climate policy in Vienna, Austria, not crisis actors in Germany.
