Fact Check-Dashcam footage showing car lifted in harsh winds predates 2023 Texas storm

A clip of dashcam footage showing a car being lifted during an extreme weather event was not filmed during a storm that hit Texas in January 2023. It actually shows an incident in Taiwan in 2015.

The dashcam video shows a white car driving during a storm before being lifted and flung with other debris during harsh winds.

The video was shared after a twister touched down in Pasadena, Texas, on Jan 24, damaging homes, buildings and power lines (here).

Examples of the clip erroneously shared on social media falsely linking it to the Texas storm can be viewed (here), (

The video was not filmed in Texas in January 2023, however.

Miscaptioned. The footage was included in media reports of a 2015 typhoon in Taiwan.
