Fact Check-Image of Trump altered to make him appear older

An image circulating online of former U.S. President Donald Trump has been edited to make him appear older.

The photograph, captured at the LIV Golf pro-am tournament at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in July 2022, was altered to deepen the wrinkles on Trump’s face, editing his features to make him appear significantly aged.

A user who shared the image on Twitter commented: “He's really looking kinda rough lately, isn't he?” (here).

Another user who posted the image to Twitter said: “Who else thinks Donald Trump spends more time in front of a makeup mirror than Melania Trump does? #TrumpToupee #TrumpRally” (here).

Other examples of the image shared online can be found (here), (here) and (here).

This image is altered, however, and the original was captured by an Associated Press photographer, Seth Wenig, and is viewable on the AP photography archive (here).

The unaltered images were also published by various news outlets, including The Sun and Newsweek (here), (here).

Reuters previously addressed an image of Trump captured on the same day that was altered to make the former president appear larger (here).
