Fact Check-Video of young girl confronting a soldier has nothing to do with the Ukraine conflict

Social media users have incorrectly linked a 2012 video of a Palestinian girl confronting Israeli soldiers with Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

The clip, shared with captions in English (here) in February 2022, which has had millions of views, (here), has been described as showing a Ukrainian girl telling a Russian soldier to “go back to your country”.

At least 352 civilians, including 14 children, have been killed since Russia launched its full-scale attack on Ukraine on Feb. 24. A further 1,684 people have been wounded (here).

On Feb. 28, ceasefire talks began on the Belarussian border, Moscow said, as sanctions on Russia deepened the country’s diplomatic and economic isolation (here).

The video of the girl on social media is not related to the Ukraine conflict. It is nearly 10 years old and shows Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi (here) confronting Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.
