Fact Check-Screenshot of alleged Joy Behar tweet about Jeffrey Epstein is fake

A screenshot apparently showing a tweet sent by Joy Behar, co-host of The View on ABC, about the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and The Democratic Party is fake.

The screenshot of the fabricated tweet supposedly sent on Oct. 22, 2020 via an iPad, reads: “I don’t care about Jeffrey Epstein! I don’t care if Democrats are Pedophiles! I am proud to be a Democrat! Nothing will ever change my mind, not even this!”

One user who shared the screenshot on Facebook said: “I don’t even need to say anything... this is the REAL attitude of people who want POWER” (here).

“Democrats say the darndest things,” another said (here).

Examples of the fake tweet being shared online can be viewed (here), (here), (here) and (here), (here).

Reuters did not find any news coverage of the alleged tweet.

Unless a tweet is deleted quickly there will be replies underneath a notice of a deleted tweet. A Twitter advanced search also did not reveal any evidence of a deleted post among replies to Behar’s tweets on Oct. 22, 2020 ( Tweets sent by Behar via her Twitter account on Oct. 21 and 22, 2020 can be viewed (

The text seen on the falsified tweet is also not exactly aligned along the left-hand margin, suggesting it may be fabricated.

A spokesperson for The View told Reuters that the tweet was fabricated: “This is not a tweet from Joy Behar but a misleading image created by someone to appear like a tweet from her. This post has been reported to Twitter.”

Reuters has previously addressed fabricated tweets apparently showing posts sent from high profile figures, celebrities and politicians (here), (here) and (here).
