"Treasure" finds gem in Mirren

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Going from the mother of Britain’s Prince Charles to the mother of Nicolas Cage, Oscar winner Helen Mirren has signed on for “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” a sequel to the hit 2004 film.

She will be joined by Ed Harris, who will play the antagonist in the Walt Disney Co. adventure.

Cage plays treasure hunter Ben Gates, while Jon Voight returns as his father. Also signing up for more action are Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel. Jon Turtletaub returns as director, and Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

The story is set in motion when one of Cage’s ancestors is implicated in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, thrusting him into a globe-spanning adventure to clear his family name and find a missing treasure along the way.
