Boehner names Blunt as bailout negotiator -sources

WASHINGTON, Sept 26 (Reuters) - U.S. House Republican leader John Boehner, under pressure to cut a deal in Wall Street bailout talks, has named deputy Roy Blunt as his chief negotiator, sources said on Friday.

The move to put the House Republican whip at the table comes a day after House Republicans stepped away and drew fire for refusing to go along with a tentative bipartisan proposal favored by negotiators for House and Senate Democrats and Senate Republicans.

“Boehner has named Blunt as chief negotiator,” one source said. “House Republicans are inclined to support a more narrowly crafted bill, but they want a bill.” (Reporting by Thomas Ferraro; Editing by Tim Dobbyn)
