The bank promoted Douglas Preiser and Andrew Paine to co-lead its KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc broker/dealer unit. Paine, formerly group head of KBCM’s industrial and energy groups, will head its corporate and investment banking business. Preiser, who remains chief operating officer of KBCM, will lead the capital markets business.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will join the venture capital firm as a “senior adviser.”
MORGAN STANLEY SMITH BARNEY (MS.N)
The brokerage has hired a new manager for its Irvine, California, office from Merrill Lynch.
Jeff Russell joined Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, a joint venture between Morgan Stanley and Citigroup (C.N), last Wednesday, according to FINRA filings. He spent almost 16 years at Merrill Lynch, a unit of Bank of America Corp (BAC.N). [ID:nN20122789]
The stockbroking and advisory firm named Darren Winder, most recently head of UK equity strategy at JPMorgan Cazenove, as head of strategy. Winder will be joined by his associate Rob Griffiths.
The mid-market investment bank, which caters to consumer and retail companies, named Michelle Cherrick as its chief executive. He most recently led the consumer group at Thomas Weisel Partners TWPG.O.
The law firm hired Gary Dellaverson as special counsel in its labor and employment department. Dellaverson joins from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where he was most recently chief financial officer. He was previously the MTA’s chief labor negotiator, overseeing such matters as the 2005 transit strike and efforts to sell the West Side Rail Yards and Atlantic Yards.
The investment bank hired Jeremy Dellis, formerly a telecoms analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), as managing director and senior telecommunications analyst in the firm’s London office.
Separately, Jefferies hired Christian Cooper as a senior interest rates trader as part of its effort to expand its global fixed income business. [ID:nN24155550]
The wealth manager, a part of Bank of New York Mellon Corp (BK.N), hired Peter Berg as vice president and sales director to promote custody services to registered investment advisors across the United States.
The asset management business of Aviva Plc (AV.L), appointed John Carmody as the new global strategy director for financial institutions. He will be based in London and report to Rob Watson, global product and strategic relations director.
