May 26 (Reuters) - FSI International Inc FSII.O raised its third-quarter revenue outlook above Wall Street expectations, helped by improved orders, sending the chip equipment maker’s shares up more than 16 percent in trading after the bell. FSI International now expects third-quarter revenue of $27 million to $29 million, up from its prior view of $23 million to $25 million.
It expects net income of $5 million to $6 million, compared with prior outlook of $2.5 million to $3 million.
Analysts were expecting revenue of $24.2 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
FSI International now expects third-quarter orders to be between $28 and $30 million, from its previous outlook of $25 million to $27 million.
Shares of the company were trading up about 16 percent in after-market trade at $3.20. They closed at $2.75 Wednesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Sudipto Ganguly in Bangalore; Editing by Maju Samuel)
