Greece only seeking first IMF tranche-G20 source

WASHINGTON, April 23 (Reuters) - Greece has asked only for a first tranche of International Monetary Fund aid and not the full amount available to it from the Fund, a Group of 20 source told Reuters on Friday.

Debt-stricken Greece appealed to its European partners and the IMF for emergency loans on Friday, yielding to overwhelming market pressure to set in motion the first financial rescue of a member of the euro zone.

Euro zone states have pledged 30 billion euros in aid and the IMF 10-15 billion euros. Markets are looking for signs of whether that will be enough and whether the first batch of aid will come before Greece has to refinance an 8.5 billion euro bond maturing on May 19.
