German stocks - Factors to watch on August 30

BERLIN/FRANKFURT, Aug 30 (Reuters) - The DAX top-30 index looked set to open 0.7 percent higher on Wednesday, according to premarket data from brokerage Lang & Schwarz at 0621 GMT.

The following are some of the factors that may move German stocks:


The United Nations condemned North Korea’s “outrageous” firing of a ballistic missile over Japan on Tuesday, demanding Pyongyang halt its weapons programme but holding back on any threat of new sanctions on the isolated regime.


BMW indicated 0.5 percent higher

Daimler indicated 0.6 percent higher

Volkswagen indicated 0.5 percent higher

Tropical Storm Harvey is likely to briefly depress already slowing U.S. auto sales, but could eventually help boost demand as damaged cars are replaced, analysts said on Tuesday.


Up 2.9 percent in early Frankfurt trade

The European broadcast group beat expectations with a 9 percent increase in second-quarter revenue thanks to its FremantleMedia production arm despite a “challenging” TV advertising market, and confirmed its 2017 forecasts.


Indicated 0.8 percent higher

The group reported a 79 percent drop in third-quarter operating profit, affirmed its guidance and said it was suffering from the postponement of project and strong price pressure.


Indicated 2.1 percent higher

Former motor racing driver Niki Lauda, who has expressed interest in buying back leisure unit Niki from Air Berlin, which he founded, told Oesterreich daily he has had constructive talks with the company’s administrator. He will now go through the figures to decide whether to make an offer, the paper says.

News conference by Ryanair, one of the parties interested in taking over Air Berlin assets, due in Berlin at 1300 GMT.

Also, bidder Hans Rudolf Woehrl is due to hold talks over Air Berlin assets on Wednesday.

The German government said a legal challenge against Berlin’s decision to grant a state bridging loan for insolvent airline Air Berlin won’t stop dispersal of the funds.

BIOTEST - 0.05 eur/ordinary shr, 0.07 eur/preference share dividend proposed


MUNICH RE - Jefferies raises to “buy” from “hold”, raises target price to 200 euros from 157 euros

JOST WERKE - JP Morgan starts with “overweight”, target price 45 euros


Dow Jones +0.3 pct, S&P 500 +0.1 pct, Nasdaq +0.3 pct at close.

Nikkei +0.7 pct, Shanghai stocks +0.1 pct.
