Ghana president says 2014 deficit target of 8.5 pct is achievable

ACCRA, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Ghana’s effort to reduce its budget deficit to 8.5 percent of gross domestic product in 2014 is fair and achievable, President John Mahama told a news conference on Tuesday.

“We targeted 9 percent deficit reduction (for 2013) but the provisional outturn is 10.2 (percent). It shows you how difficult governance is,” Mahama said.
